Governor Aleksandr Gusev announced that Russian air defense units intercepted 113 drones over Voronezh and the surrounding oblast during the night of October 25 and 26, 2026. The attacks struck two major industrial sites: the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO) and the Voronezhsintezkauchuk rubber plant. Gusev told Interfax that fires erupted at several businesses, though he did not name the specific companies in his initial official statement.

Ukrainian OSINT channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ identified the targets before the governor's remarks. They confirmed that Voronezhsintezkauchuk, a subsidiary of the Sibur group, produced synthetic rubbers and polymer materials. VASO, part of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex under the United Aircraft Corporation, manufactures aviation components and the Ilyushin Il-96 jet airliner. The strikes represented one of the most intense aerial engagements in the region in recent weeks.

The blast effects extended well beyond the industrial zones. Gusev reported that fires also broke out in a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He noted that damage to building facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city. While the governor described the incidents as occurring without significant consequences, local media and observers reported extensive damage.

Russian media outlet Astra provided specific locations for the impacts. They reported a drone hit on the Galereya Chizhova business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street and captured video of the explosion. The publication also identified explosion sites near residential buildings on 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street. Damage was documented at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street, and at least ten cars were caught in flames in a car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street.

Residents reported hearing explosions and the sounds of air defense operations for more than an hour. The city remained shrouded in smoke throughout the engagement. Astra noted that readers reported no formal air-raid warning had been issued prior to the strikes. Gusev stated that more than 70 drones were downed directly over the city of Voronezh, while the total count reached 113 when including the wider urban area and several districts of the oblast.

Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the damage to both public and private property. The high volume of intercepted drones suggests a coordinated launch aimed at saturating the air defense systems. The attack targeted facilities linked to Russia's aviation and petrochemical sectors, underscoring the strategic importance of these industrial hubs.
